Turbo Lingo puts you behind the wheel on a neon highway. Choose Italian, Japanese or Chinese, then pick one of ten levels set in places such as the Riviera, Kyoto and the Great Wall. A word or phrase plays aloud and appears on the radio banner; steer through the overhead gate showing its English meaning before the clock runs out. Correct gates build your streak and add time, misses reveal the answer and come back soon, and traffic costs points. Earlier words return for review, a checkpoint opens an expert or scenic route, and every race ends with a grade.
Players learn to recognise 600 words and phrases, 200 each in Italian, Japanese and Chinese, from recorded audio and written script, and to connect each one quickly to its English meaning. They practise listening, telling a meaning apart from two plausible alternatives, and recalling vocabulary under time pressure. Missed words return soon and previous levels reappear as review, building retention through spaced retrieval. Levels move from greetings and everyday nouns through requests, daily routines, past and future events and pronouns to idioms and complex sentences with conditions and contrasts. Players also learn to review their accuracy, streaks and missed words.
