Spellaconda is a three-dimensional snake spelling game. Players read a definition on the panel, see the word with one letter missing, and work out which letter fills the gap. Then they steer a metallic robotic snake across a twenty by twenty arena using arrow keys, WASD, swipes or on-screen arrows, collecting the correct letter tile while avoiding eleven wrong letters, the arena edges and the snake's own body. A run climbs through four random words at every length from three to thirteen letters, with five lives, hints, spoken clues, calm or step pace and a bonus for the shortest route.
Players learn to read a definition and identify the word it describes, to spell words of three to thirteen letters by locating one missing interior letter, to recognise vowel and consonant patterns, syllable chunks, doubled letters, silent letters and common suffixes, to check spelling against meaning rather than guessing, to use hints deliberately, to plan a route before moving and recover from mistakes without losing progress. The word bank holds one hundred and ten words with child-friendly definitions, ten at each length, so repeated runs give varied practice for primary and lower secondary spellers, including confident spellers tackling long words.
