Someone collapses on the floor of a busy Australian café, and you are the nearest person. Check for danger, speak to them and touch their shoulders, then give two bystanders clear jobs: one calls 000, the other brings the AED. Open the airway with a head tilt and chin lift, watch their breathing and decide what it means. Choose compression-only CPR or 30:2 breaths, tap a steady compression rhythm, expose the chest, place AED pads and stand clear for analysis. Three scenarios change what you see. Finish by handing over to paramedics, then review each decision and every tap interval.
Players learn to check for danger and response, delegate the emergency call and AED retrieval clearly, open an adult airway, and distinguish normal breathing from absent breathing and occasional gasps. They learn to choose between compression-only CPR and 30:2, locate the lower half of the breastbone, and keep compressions at 100 to 120 per minute. They practise exposing the chest, placing pads below the right collarbone and on the left side, clearing everyone for analysis, resuming CPR after shock or no shock, using the recovery position, and handing over. Follows ANZCOR basic life support guidance; a learning simulation, not certification.
